(1)defer
指「推迟」，一般属于主动或有计划的行为，例如：

He decided to defer his departure for a week.

他決定推迟一星期启程。

(2)delay
本意指「暂时阻挡」，但常引伸为「耽搁」或「拖延」，例如：

The train has been delayed by an accident.

火车因意外而延误。

(3)postpone
指「延期」，一般会说明更改的日期，或加上其他修饰词语，例如：

The meeting has been [is] postponed until [to] Friday.

会议押后至星期五举行。

The party is postponed temporarily.
